The Turkeys' excrement is everywhere
There is an Establishment and media tendency to see the current slough of despair in which we find ourselves as economic alone. The terms used are credit crunch, economic recession, banking collapse and so on. But while mistakes of historic proportion have been made in 'dealing' with the crisis, these are only short-term, last-minute factors contributing to the downfall of a flawed cultural model: its untergang was inevitable anyway. Most human beings abhor change. Most human beings aspire to nothing more than remaining in the pack, and benefiting from its protection. Most human beings have a voracious appetite for food and possessions wired into their makeup. And most human beings are uninterested in the macro picture: they wish only be protected, while enjoying a materially narrow life with family and friends. A few human beings suffer from serious egomania. This presents as a dsyfunctional hoarding mentality, controlling personality, lust for power, and self-delusion which can (over time) become delusional in the clinical sense. Their need to lead is in inverse proportion to their suitability for the role. In between these two groups are those constantly causing cultural renewal: artists, entrepreneurs, free thinkers, creative scientists and intuitive seers. They have a love-hate relationship with the pack. They make the pack feel uneasy. But without them, the pack will get stuck in a rut: it will start to get distracted, and feed upon itself. And yet their own innate insecurity makes them want to be loved by the pack. When the mass of pack members lose interest in what the leaders are up to, the latter begin to regard them as stupid and malleable. They try to make their own extreme needs the norm. And they regard all the renewing instincts of the creative minority as dangerous - something to be discouraged. The balance of power in Britain is massively out of whack: we are being taken over by a delusional elite. |
This cultural construct is what we have in the UK today - and, in a more extreme form - at Brussels. It is extremely unlikely to survive, and will only do so if the egomanic elite use the organs of control to ensure its survival. Most dynastic houses and totalitarian systems end up using such desperate methods: the Bourbons in France, the Romanovs in Russia, the Politburo of the USSR, the Nazis in Germany, Mugabe in Zimbabwe, Beijing's contemporary leaders, and US multinational business since around 1960. What is the evidence for ateriosclerosis in our system? Privileged government voting itself free from pain the rest of us have to suffer. Terrible ethics and role-model behaviour in public life. Unbelievable greed and deceit in commerce and business. Insistence on equal rights for the crooked, lazy, anti-social, intolerant and violent elements in our midst. Unwillingness to face the blindingly obvious flaws in bourse-financed/remote shareholder globalist capitalism. The acceptance of obscene wealth disparities. Insane rationales for 24/7 surveillance in the name of catching minute terrorist (and other criminal) minorities. Toleration of feather-bedding for the failed civil servants who demand high manning levels and index-linked pensions. The derivative nature of almost all performance arts promoted in the name of shareholder ROI. The triumph of jargon-ridden process over genuinely creative ideas. The denial of climate change in the face of melting ice-caps. The lack of foresight that has brought us to a collapse in aged care, social medicine, energy resources, and currency values. For this process to be stopped and then reversed, tinkering simply won't do - we are way, way past that stage. Urgent consitutional, Establishment, economic, educational, political, birth control and legal reform is required. In seeking this, we must of course avoid the slide into corporate Stateism and BNP illiberalism. What Britain needs above all today is a large dose of tolerant reality. Not Born Yesterday wants to link with every well-meaning movement in sympathy with that aim. |
