We write about wrongs: this means we correct the lies and fallacies put about by Governments, bankers, journalists, doctors and anyone else with a selfish agenda. And we expose injustice as and when we find it.

As most people who are crooked and/or in public life are bumptious, self-important hypocrites, it is our policy at all times to take the merciless piss out of them. This has been described by critics throughout our history as sneering, mean, cruel, nasty, belligerent and unspeakable tasteless. We'd love it if this wasn't necessary, but in today's broken culture it represents a necessary evil. This is a site for people who can tell shit from putty, have a strong stomach, and aren't still chattering among the faint-hearted folks who read Prospect and similarly plonkerous media.

IN MORE DETAIL.....

It must be pretty clear by now to regular nby visitors what it stands for, but we thought it might be useful to summarise for newcomers what the site is trying to say.

1. Once you stop laughing at yourself, all is lost.

2. A tiny minority of humanity cannot laugh at themselves. They are the ones who have brought us to this sorry state.

3. The overwhelming majority of our species want nothing more than to be left alone to get on with their family and community lives.

4. The desire of these nice people to be left alone is, unfortunately, the very thing that allows the tiny minority to take over.

5. This small percentage of damaged humanity try to do everything in their power (and they have lots of power) to make the rest of us believe that up is down, day is night, red is green and tomorrow is yesterday.

6. Although many intermediaries can be persuaded to go along with this alteration of reality, it is the relatively free press, televisual and internet media which stand between us and a nightmare eternity of being told what to believe.

7. We should believe what we see, read all evidence carefully, and say what we think on the basis of this. Anyone trying to stop us from doing so is - almost certainly - a bad guy.

8. There is no such thing as political correctness. All those who believe themselves to be absolutely correct are to be feared.

9. We are all human beings, and thus by definition flawed. We have an irrational, appetitive, aggressive and destructive brain area which needs to be controlled.

10. It is up to each of us as individuals to control this fundamentally uncivilised part of our nature, and create a culture which looks down on it. If we don't, the State will be very happy to do it for us - and serfdom will be our fate.
