Not born yesterday implies that you can’t pull the wool over someone’s eyes. We supposedly are smarter than we were yesterday and we’ve had a lot of yesterdays. A fantastic mentor of mine Paul Maddalena has done a great job in opening my eyes to this concept. It’s tempting, as a US citizen to go off on the political scene from the perspective of Not Born Yesterday. The he did, she did, conversation going back and forth between the two major parties as if on a political gantry crane, is more than many of us can tolerate, but still we must listen.

Looking for Good News
Where’s the good news? There doesn’t seem to be a lot lately. On the other hand, the media as a whole are happiest when there is a major tragedy to report. True, it’s their job to keep the public informed, but one gets a sense that the fouler the news, the more satisfied they are to have something they can really sink their teeth into. I suppose it’s human nature to be in the thick of things, and if the job is to relay the particulars then it must be all the more satisfying.
Here’s the beef: Even when there is no seriously bad news, the major media outlets seem to look for the darker side of life. If there’s a story about an inner city school program that is successfully sending 90 percent of their high school graduates to college, or a story about a towing service pulling a car out of a lake. The tow truck story most likely will get top billing.
You Can Count On Change
Changes abound. If there is one singular thing we can all count on, it is change. Changes that affect us as a whole usually sift down from the “higher powers” of industry and government. The captains of commerce and our world leaders make decisions oftentimes regardless of the wishes of the people. They don’t think we notice because they are in their own worlds and out of touch with the general populace. They think we were born yesterday.
My father-in-law needed extensive repair on one of his rental properties and called in the best plumber Burlington Ontario had available for hire. Jake was a fellow who Dad had used on several projects in the past, and he knew his work was reliable. Jake is a personable guy and likes to talk. He started off by giving an estimate and then poked his head out of the maze of pipes to complain about the costs of repairs. He said there was no good reason for plumbing parts to go up 13% over the past 12 months. He’s been in the business for 25 years, and he doesn’t see a need for the increase costs, – that naturally has to be passed onto the customer. Where does it stop?
The World Is Waking Up Part 1
For decades, people have trusted their elected officials to do what was right for their constituents. Many of us have blindly handed over power – thinking we had our eyes wide open. Here’s the deal; we are beginning to wise up. As a result of scandal after scandal, government debauchery and the dawn of the world wide web, people are facing the depth in which they have been deceived. It’s not just the people of the United States, but citizens from nations all over the planet who are waking up, and taking a stand stating that they were not born yesterday.
Since the dawn of the internet and alternative media, the exposure of the crimes against the people cannot be hidden. Still our so-called leaders take themselves very seriously and have lost perspective as to what put them in power in the first place. The world is treated like their personal internet marketing company spewing out whatever reality suites their needs in the assumption that the folks will believe it. Many can use spin doctors and marketing firms to cloak the truth of their deceptive ways. Many are masters themselves in the game of manipulation and have daresay blatantly forgotten other realities for their own personal self-gain. Continue reading » The World Is Waking Up Part 1
